Megadeth brought some hard rock format to this album and perhaps this change made the album gain real commercial success. Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction is still a favorable loving metal record to many people. The prime member of Megadeth Dave Mustaine declared this album to be the best work of Megadeth. Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction was the second album featuring the Mustaine, Ellefson, Menza, Friedman line-up.
